Within mega – project “Vaults of the Commonwealth: Libraries”, since 2008 the Russian State Library has been cooperating with the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS states on the project “Virtual Reading Rooms of the Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library (VRRs RSL) at the national libraries of the CIS states”.

Virtual Reading Room of the Digital Dissertation Library of the Russian State Library was opened at the Baku State University as a result of this project.

The Russian delegation headed by the General Director of the Russian State Library Aleksandr Visli visited Baku to take part at the opening ceremony. The rector of the Baku State University, academician Abel Maharramov met with Russian delegation.  Actual problems of the Digital Dissertation Library were discussed during the meeting.

It should be noted that it is the second Virtual Reading Room opened in Azerbaijan.
