Baku State University (BSU) recently hosted an information session dedicated to the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), an international initiative aimed at fostering youth interest in science and technology.

In his opening remarks, Mais Suleymanov, Director of the BSU Center for Organization of Scientific Activity and Innovations, emphasized the importance of such international projects. He noted that events like the WRO not only spark young people’s interest in technology but also contribute significantly to the country’s scientific and technical advancement.

Farid Akhmedov, Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, provided attendees with detailed insights into the structure and objectives of the Olympiad.

Fedaye Veliyeva, a representative of the Azerbaijan Academy of Robotics and Engineering and the World Robot Olympiad, delivered a presentation covering the competition’s categories, evaluation criteria, and technical challenges. She highlighted how the WRO serves as a platform for young participants to strengthen their logical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity. The Olympiad, she noted, also plays a crucial role in promoting skills in computer programming, engineering, and intercultural exchange.

The session concluded with a Q&A segment, during which students had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers.
