Yunus Emre Turkish Culture Center to be opened at Baku State University

Rector of Baku State University academician Abel Maharramov  met Coordinator of the  Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Cultural Centers Yasin Tunc.

Maharramov spoke of the BSU`s history, and its international relations.

Tunc highlighted the activity of the Yunus Emre Institute. He said the Institute was interested in cooperation with the BSU.

Maharramov noted that the establishment of Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre at the BSU would be an important step in promoting the Turkish language and culture.

Yunus Emre, who lived around 13th and 14th centuries, was a Turkish poet and Sufi mystic. Yunus Emre is one of the first known Turkish poets to have composed works in the spoken Turkish of his own age and region rather than Persian or Arabic.

His poems, written in the tradition of Anatolian folk poetry, mainly concern divine love as well as human destiny.
