China Hosts Landmark International Scientific Conference on Azerbaijani Studies
Beijing is currently hosting the First China International Scientific Conference on Azerbaijani Studies, held under the theme "Strengthening Chinese-Azerbaijani Relations in the Spirit of the Silk Road." Organized by Beijing Foreign Studies University, the conference aims to deepen scientific understanding of Azerbaijan's rich history, language, and culture, while fostering the development of Azerbaijani studies in China. The event also seeks to explore the longstanding cultural ties between the two nations and provide a scholarly assessment of their evolving economic relations.
During the opening ceremony, Zhao Gang, Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University, highlighted the conference's significance in promoting academic exchange and enhancing cooperation between China and Azerbaijan, particularly within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative.
Bunyad Huseynov, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to China, offered insights into the historical and contemporary dynamics of bilateral relations. He expressed optimism that the conference would play a pivotal role in bridging the scientific and cultural communities of both countries. Huseynov further noted that numerous cultural initiatives, aimed at promoting Azerbaijani culture in China and Chinese culture in Azerbaijan, have already laid the groundwork for stronger people-to-people connections.
Notable figures such as Hamlet Isakhanli, founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, Ding Tao, Chargé d'Affaires of China in Azerbaijan, Isa Habibbayli, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, and Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University, extended their best wishes for the success of the groundbreaking event.
The conference has drawn participation from scholars and researchers from Chinese academic institutions, as well as Chinese and Azerbaijani students studying in China. Over 40 reports will be presented by both established and emerging scholars from both nations, making this event a key platform for intellectual exchange and a significant step forward in the field of Azerbaijani studies in China.
